Recipe: Raspberry Coconut Oatmeal

Oats are a versatile base for all kinds of ingredients, so you can add variety to your breakfast each month with different fruits and other delicious add-ons.

When choosing tasty ingredients to add to your oatmeal, focus on flavor – but also look for foods that include protein, vitamins, and good fats. The oats will provide you with wholesome, slow-release carbs.

Our go-to recipe combines oats with raspberries, milk and flaked coconut for a tasty and nutritious breakfast bowl.

What You Need:

-1 cup whole grain oats, large-flaked or steel-cut if possible
-2 cups milk (regular, soy or almond) or water
-Raspberries, to taste
-Unsweetened flaked coconut, to taste

How to Make It:

1) In a saucepan, bring water or milk to a boil.

2) Stir in the oats and reduce the heat to low. Stir occasionally until creamy, approximately 10 minutes if using large-flaked and half an hour if steel cut. Add more liquid if mixture looks dry before oats are cooked.

3) Add fresh raspberries and coconut. Serve, mixing in fresh milk as desired.
